Alex Jones

Alex Jones, the founder of Infowars, repeatedly claimed that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a hoax, falsely asserting that it was staged by "crisis actors" to promote gun control legislation. These lies caused immense pain and suffering to the families of the victims, who endured years of harassment, threats, and abuse from conspiracy theorists who believed Jones' falsehoods. Some families reported being confronted by individuals insisting the shooting was fake, while others faced threats to desecrate their children's graves. As a result of multiple defamation lawsuits, Jones has been ordered to pay approximately $1.5 billion in damages to the families of Sandy Hook victims. This includes a $965 million verdict in Connecticut and a $49 million judgment in Texas. Jones has since acknowledged that the shooting was "100% real," but the damage caused by his years of spreading misinformation has led to severe financial and legal consequences.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump's presidency was marked by an unprecedented assault on truth and democratic norms. He spewed an average of 21 false or misleading claims per day, totaling over 30,000 lies during his four-year term. His dishonesty ranged from petty exaggerations about inauguration crowd sizes to dangerous falsehoods about the COVID-19 pandemic and the integrity of the 2020 election. He also had several affairs most notibly with Stormy Daniels, and bragged about his ability to grope women without consent due to his celebrity status, saying "Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything."
